What is the MVOID simulation process methodology?
Mvoid analyzes, evaluates and optimizes products with acoustical properties in the virtual space by multidisciplinary simulation. It represents a fully digital development environment for automotive audio systems and integrates the following engineering disciplines:

Mvoid has developed a methodology that makes it possible to transfer the first ideas of pre-development of acoustics and sound design by a multidisciplinary simulation model to the real world. Reduce development time while at the same time product quality is being optimized
The main advantage of the Mvoid methodology is to reduce development time while improving product quality, as the Mvoid methodology significantly reduces long-lasting tests on prototypes. In the past, disturbing acoustic influences had to be adjusted respectively eliminated by acoustic experts manually on physical prototypes while today they are quickly recognized and optimized in the virtual space. Evaluation in Pre-Development
At a very early stage of development (concept phase or platform development), when only a few parameters are known, the Mvoid technology transfers ideas into reality and explores new solutions. During this phase, there are lots of uncertainties with basic constraints on the designed space. Not much details are known – hence it is not possible to build a physical prototype. Well, how to evaluate the concept then? Up to now this was based on experience and intuition with vague results. With the Mvoid technology even at this stage the results are clear and lead to well-founded decisions, resulting in superior concepts and design proposals.
Evaluation of the Acoustic Concept – Feasibility Studies
At some point the concept must be evaluated. So far this was done by means of early stage physical prototypes. However, these first prototypes still include lots of uncertainties (e.g. with respect to materials, as rapid prototyping parts are used, but also with respect to general progress on ongoing design work) with little to no benefit for conclusions on the expected sound quality. There is no advantage of the physical prototype compared to the Mvoid based virtual prototype. Hence, we can skip the physical prototype, and save significant costs. Additional to cost savings, already at this stage the quality is improved, and speed and efficiency of development is significantly increased.
The business case for the investment in Mvoid methodology is thus clearly defined. The break-even point is reached on the very first use. The investment has a payback, as MVOID does not require any physical prototype for concept validation.
Evaluation of the Acoustic Concept in Detail Engineering
In the beginning of detail design work for series development, it is still challenging to manufacture physical porotypes due to the high dynamics in progress of work. Virtual models are needed to quickly answer questions leading to the right decisions. At least in the early phase yet another physical prototype can be skipped, resulting again in significant cost savings, and the ROI can be well defined.
