In a common webinar with COMSOL Dr. Svobodnik demonstrates how the 3D sound field in the interior is determined by physical / mathematical parameters in the simulation model. Multiphysical Simulation Methods for Loudspeakers – A (Never)Ending Story?

At first glance an electrodynamic loudspeaker seems to be a fairly simple assembly – a simple (sub)system compared to typical applications of modern CAE methods. So where is the challenge? It’s in the detail! Besides strongly coupled different physical domains, such as electromagnetism, mechanics, acoustics, thermal transfer and fluid dynamics, we also have to deal with path dependent dynamic effects and nonlinearities (including instabilities) in each domain. In addition to that, materials with totally different behavior and thus totally different material models as well as different joining techniques for each component are being used.
